BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas Southern's Zach Lofton has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Wee for action over the first week of the regular season.

Lofton made a scintillating debut for the Tigers, posting 35 points in the team's 89-82 loss at Texas-Arlington. Lofton was 12-of-25 in the contest and nailed five treys. He also pulled in five rebounds, dished out two assists and made three steals.
For the week (two games) Lofton averaged 22 points, 3.5 rebounds, three steals and two assists per contest as the Tigers went 1-1 to start the 2016-17 campaign.
