Texas Southern forward Derrick Griffin has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Saturday against Mississippi Valley State Griffin scored 16 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, blocked six shots, handed out four assist, and one steal playing in all 40 minutes of the contest.

Griffin earned his eighth double-double of the year and fifth in a row when he posted 13 points and 13 rebounds against Arkansas-Pine Bluff Monday night at home.

The two sport start is third on the team in scoring averaging 12.7 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per outing. Griffin has only played in 13 games this season as competed at wide receiver this past fall in football.
