Texas Tech and the University of Houston have agreed to a four-game football series starting in 2017 in Houston and concluding in Lubbock in 2022.

The series will mark the second between Texas Tech and Houston since the breakup of the Southwest Conference in 1995. Prior to 1995, the Red Raiders and Cougars faced off as conference opponents for 20 years beginning in 1975. The two teams first met in 1951.

"Having a presence in South Texas is important for our football program and gives our fans in that region additional opportunities to watch the Red Raiders play," Kirby Hocutt, Director of Athletics said.

Texas Tech and Houston last met on Nov. 27, 2010, in the final game of a two-game series at Jones AT&T Stadium. The Red Raiders defeated a Houston team led by Kevin Sumlin, 35-20.
