The Texas Southern Tigers host its first baseball tournament under head coach Michael Robertson.  The teams include the University of Houston-Victoria and Arlington Baptist College.
 
The 3-day tournament starts Friday, April 11th at MacGregor Park.  UH-Victoria will face Arlington Baptist at 1:00pm then Arlington Baptist will play Texas Southern at 4:30pm.
 
Day two of the tournament will move to MLB Youth Academy @ Sylvester Turner Park.  Arlington Baptist College will face Texas Southern at 1:00pm followed by Texas Southern and UH-Victoria at 4:00pm.
 
The final day of the Texas Southern Tigers baseball tournament will move back to MacGregor Park where Arlington Baptist College will play UH-Victoria at 12:00pm.  UH-Victoria and Texas Southern will face off in the final game at 3:00pm.
 
Besides the great baseball games, the final day will feature tailgating and a huge family cookout.  Admission is free for the entire tournament.  It will be a fun filled affair for the whole family.

Saturday, April 12  MLB Youth Academy @ Sylvester Turner Park
Game 1: Arlington Baptist College vs. Texas Southern 1:00pm
Game 2: UH-Victoria vs. Texas Southern 4:00pm

Sunday, April 13    MacGregor Park
Game 1: Arlington Baptist College vs. UH-Victoria 12:00pm
Game 2: UH-Victoria vs. Texas Southern 3:00pm
 
The TSU Tigers are on a roll in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). TSU is in second place in the SWAC West, just a half game behind Arkansas Pine-Bluff in conference play.   Texas Southern captured series wins against their last three opponents including a sweep of Prairie View A&M.
 
Michael Starkey and Devin Konarik led the Tigers on the mound.  Both pitchers have 3 wins each and both have been honored as SWAC Pitchers of the Week.  Larry Romero has also helped lift the team.  He has 2 wins, including a victory in relief against Grambling State.
 
TSU big hitters are Marquis Webb, Jerry Ford, II, Zach Howell and Zach Welz.  Webb leads the team with a .341 batting average.  He has 31 hits, 3 doubles, 10 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.  Ford is second with a .330 batting average.  He has 36 hits, 16 runs, 2 doubles, 8 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.  Howell has a .275 batting average with 25 hits, 3 doubles, 3 triples, 11 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. Welz leads the team in RBIs with 16.  He is batting .271 with 23 hits, 4 doubles and 1 homerun.
