Texas Southern triple jumpers Demetrious Williams and Ian Williams captured the one and two spots in the Victor Lopez Classic at Rice University.

Demetrious jumped 46 feet 7.5 inches to take first place. He also placed sixth in the long jump (23-02.75).

Teammate Ian Williams took second place with a distance of 46 feet 3.25 inches.

Travis Sanders and Raphiel Baptiste teamed up to take second and third place respectfully in the high jump. Sanders cleared 6 feet 4.75 inches in his first attempt and Baptiste jumped 6 feet 4.75 inches in his second attempt.

Kevon Murry took sixth place in the 400 meter hurdles (56.46), Jawalyn Brooks was seventh in the pole vault (14-09.00) and Greg Brady finished eighth in the shot with a distance of 41 feet 3.00 inches.

The Tigers' 4x400 meter relay team went to Austin for the 87th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas. Freshman Brian Baskin joined seniors Jeff Lacroix, Jeffry Lacroix and Michael Holmes to finish with a time of 41.81.

Senior Tierra McGowan led the way with a first place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.36 for the TSU Lady Tigers. This was McGowan's first individual win of the outdoor season, but not her fastest time. She ran a 2:10.04 at the TSU Relays for second place.

Freshman Breana Dockery won the 200 meter dash with a 24.46, her fastest time and first individual win this season.

Junior Terralyn Johnson took second in the triple jump (40-07.00) and seventh in the long jump (18-07.25), junior Jeressa Mathis was third in the 100 meter hurdles (14.27), junior Whitney McDonald was fourth in the 400 meter dash (55.75) and freshman Adriana Berkhalter was sixth in the 200 meter dash (24.77) and eighth in the 400 meter dash (56.93).

Jackson State’s men’s team also competed at the Texas Relays. The 4x400m relay team consisting of Jeremy Wilson, Jamie McIntosh, Dana Roberts, and Tamarick Johnson. The group finished with a new season best time of 3:11.71. This pushed the Tigers in the top 20 in the eastern region of the NCAA. The Tigers also finished 17th in the 4x800m relays and 13th in the 4x200m relay.

The Mississippi Valley State men’s team had a very strong showing particularly in the Men’s 100 Meter Dash as Jatarius Harris placed first with a time of (11.23). Earl Winters finished second in the 200 Meter Dash clocking in at 21.80. Winters also ran in the 400m dash crossing the line fourth (48.50).
