CONFERENCE NEWS AND NOTES:

• Alabama State has swept the weekly honors for the second week in a row, as Maddie Phelps and Charlene Castro took home the SWAC Pitcher and Hitter of the Week honors, respectively. For Castro, it is the first weekly honor of any kind in her career, and for Phelps, it is the second-straight Pitcher of the Week selection.

• Alabama State University’’s Laura Aguilar was named College Sports Madness Player of the Week for the second-straight week. She is the first multiple winner of the award since Southern’s Kiara Suttles accomplished the feat last season.

• Prairie View A&M and Alabama A&M both picked up their first wins of the year this past weekend, with PVAMU taking down Texas A&M - Corpus Christi 2-1 and AAMU defeating East Tennessee State.

• Arkansas-Pine Bluff has equaled last season’s victory total thanks to a 5-1 win over Central Baptist. The Lady Lions picked up six wins all of last season and currently stand at 6-14 on the year, tied with Texas Southern for second-most wins among conference teams thus far this year.

• Krystalani Yockman of Texas Southern picked up four RBI in a 5-3 win versus Houston this past weekend. The four RBI are the second-most Houston has surrendered to a single player this season.
