CONFERENCE NEWS & NOTES
   
• ESPNU showcased in-state rivals Mississippi Valley State and Jackson State on last, Saturday, April 26. MVSU broke JSU’s chances of going undefeated in conference play falling 6-4

• Jackson State claims the Eastern Division Crown while Texas Southern claims the Western Division

• Alabama A&M and Arkansas-Pine Bluff will not compete in the tournament this year, both teams made appearances in last year’s tournament

Texas Southern completed a three-game sweep of Southern to close out regular season league play. TSU is the only team in the conference who has one game remaining in regular season, they are set to face Oklahoma State on Friday at 4 p.m.

• Alabama State remains number one in the league with 29 homers, Meagan Dixon from ASU leads the conference with 13

• This week TSU’s Chelsea Guenther leads the league with the highest batting average of .491 and Meagan Dixon drops to number two with .456. Brenica Woods from Prairie View comes in at number three with .451, Texas Southern’s Princess Daniels  ranks fourth with .445 and tops ASU’s Aleesa Yanez who comes in fifth with a batting average of .402

Texas Southern tops the league with the most RBI, registering 282, while ASU comes in with 195 and JSU places third with 185,and Alabama A&M with 147 knocking Grambling down to fifth with 144

• Lauren Aikens from Jackson State is ranked number one in the league for top hitters with 56 hits, ASU’ s Meagan Dixon and Chelsea Guenther share second place with 52 hits

• Jackson State has the lowest team ERA recording 3.67, Texas Southern trails with 3.93 and Grambling with 5.28
