Texas Southern is currently riding a six game winning streak. They have won 15 out of their last 16 games. They’re only blemish was on the road at rival Prairie View A&M on Feb. 6

Texas Southern has been the SWAC’s headquarters for triple-doubles. Monday against Alabama State Chris Thomas produced the team’s second triple-double of the season putting up 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Teammate David Blanks recorded the first one on Jan. 2 in an 88-66 win over Southern. The last three conference players to earn triple-doubles were all from TSU. Aaric Murray (24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks against Wiley College - Nov. 11, 2013).

Southern is coming off of three straight losses for the first time during the Roman Banks era. The streak is its longest in five seasons. The Jaguars are only two wins shy of reaching the 20-win plateau. Last season SUBR finished with a record of 18-17. Texas Southern was the only school in the league to reach that mark a year ago

After opening conference play at a perfect 3-0, Grambling State (6-19, 3-10) has lost 11 in a row and 13 of its last 14.

While Texas Southern has ended its home stand with a perfect 9-0 record, Southern is hoping to finish with a 13-0 home reord. The Jaguars host TSU Thursday night and Prairie View A&M Monday

Alcorn State has won 13 out of its last 15 games. They are tied with Jackson State for second place in the SWAC\. JSU owns the tiebreaker between the two schools
