BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Grambling State’s Jazmine Boyd and Texas Southern’s Keiana Vines have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week for their outstanding performance in competition during January 6-12.

Boyd was named Co-Player of the Week after earning a career-best 34 points in the Grambling State win over Alcorn State Monday afternoon. She accounted for five rebounds and went 10-for-14 in the field, 5-for-6 in three-point range and 9-for-11 at the line.

This was Boyd’s first 30 point performance after previously claiming 21 points against LSU-Alexandria and 27 against defending SWAC women’s basketball champions, Alabama State.

Her recent performances have helped push the Lady Tigers to become the leading scoring offense in the conference with 988 points (an average of 65.9 per game).

Vines' performance against in-state rival Prairie View A&M earned her the Co-Player of the Week accolade. During the game, she contributed 29 points and seven rebounds making 13 of her 19 shots from the field and going 3-for-3 from the line.

In the win over Alcorn State, Vines netted every shot she took, going 3-for-3 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line (eight points) in 16 minutes of play.

With both wins, TXSO remains undefeated in league play at 3-0.

This was Vines’ first 20 point performance of the season. She currently leads the Conference in field goals made (13) and blocked shots (8).
