Gamecocks' young cornerbacks must hit ground running

One of our former coaches, now at SEC school South Carolina:

COLUMBIA – Since cutting his teeth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, Grady Brown is used to making freshmen cornerbacks hit the ground running.

"Due to the scholarship numbers," said Brown, who coached Alabama A&M for two seasons, Alabama State for six and Texas Southern for one, "we had to have cornerbacks ready to play the minute they walked on campus."

South Carolina's secondary coach has that task again this season. The Gamecocks are in need of cornerbacks who can compete on the Southeastern Conference level – and fast.
