Beyene Wins 5,000 At Houston G5 & Super 22 Invitational

HOUSTON – Texas Southern men’s track student-athlete Filmon Beyene won the 5,000-meter run at the Houston G5 & Super 22 Invitational this past weekend.

Beyene posted a time of 15:19.23 in the 5,000 to claim first place as he beat the next competitor by three seconds. His time currently ranks second in the SWAC after the weekend.

Jose Gonzalez logged the top time in the SWAC in the 3,000 as he ran 8:41.78. Fellow runner Luis Delreal moved into the top 10 amongst SWAC runners in the mile after his performance along with Hillary Maiyo and Cristian Sanchez in the 5,000.

Chadrick Williams posted the eighth-best jump in the SWAC in the long jump (22-2.25) while Christian Lewis moved into the No. 2 spot in the triple jump as he jumped 48 feet.
