Beyene Sets The Tone As Men’s Tracks Competes At Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – TSU’s men’s track completed its second meet of the season as they participated at the Ted Nelson Invitational on Friday.

Filmon Beyene recorded a third-place finish in the 5,000 with a career-best mark of 15:30.26 as his time sits atop the SWAC. TSU also continued to shine in its distance runs as Brian Martinez and Dan Lerma posted the third and fifth-best times among conference competitors in the mile.

The men’s distance medley relay of Efrain Lira, Davin Wilkins, Cameron Houston and Jose Gonzalez placed fifth while posting the top mark in SWAC with a time of 10:35.83.

The mile relay team of Eric Prier, Kenneth White, Tyrel Simms and Coby Kelley posted the second-fastest time in SWAC this season as they recorded a sixth-place time of 3:16.80.

In the field events, Antoine Greer jumped 22-11.25 meters en route to a sixth-place finish in the long jump and the SWAC’s third-best mark. Chadrick Williams finished eighth in both the triple and high jumps with marks of 6-4.25 and 47-8, respectively as Williams ranks second in the SWAC in the triple jump.

The Tigers return to College Station next weekend for the Aggie Invitational on Saturday.
