Baseball Wins 4th Straight With Another High-Scoring Performance

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Jordan Martinez struck out seven while Jeremy Almaguer went 3-for-4 as TSU claimed an 11-1 win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday.
 
TSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second as Justin Cooper doubled home Almaguer followed by Tyler Williams’ two-RBI single which scored Cooper and Michael Goudeau. Both teams went scoreless until the fifth as Jeremy Gaines led the inning off with a solo homer followed by Gabriel Vasquez’s solo homer and Tyrese Clayborne’s RBI double which scored Almaguer for a 6-0 lead.
 
UAPB scored a run in the fifth but TSU answered in the sixth as Goudeau scored on a UAPB error followed by CJ Castillo’s RBI single. Goudeau would move TSU into double digits with a two-RBI double in the seventh along with Almaguer’s RBI double in the eighth as TSU ended the game via the run-rule.
 
Almaguer went 3-for-4 with three hits, three runs and an RBI followed by Gaines’ two hits, two runs and an RBI. Goudeau and Williams also has two RBI each. Martinez struck out seven and allowed only three hits in six innings of work.
 
The series concludes on Sunday at 1 p.m.
