Avent Named SWAC Women’s Basketball Impact Player Of the Week

Texas Southern University women’s basketball redshirt sophomore guard Andriana Avent was named the SWAC’s Impact Player of the Week for her solid performance on the road last weekend.

A redshirt sophomore guard from Sacramento, Calif., Avent had two high-scoring performances as she averaged 24 points in two games at Alcorn State and Jackson State. She scored 25 points to go along with seven rebounds, and a steal during TSU’s outing at Alcorn State. Against Jackson State, Avent contributed 23 points, three rebounds, three steals, and one assist.
 
Avent has turned into TSU’s go-to scorer as she’s scored 23 or more points in three of the past four games with a high of 35 versus UAPB on Jan. 8.
 
Avent and the women’s basketball team are back in action this Saturday at 4 p.m. against Alabama A&M inside the H&PE Arena.
