Alcantra Leads The Way As Women’s Golf Closes Out Round 1 Of Hank Stewart Collegiate

PEARLAND, Texas – The Texas Southern University women’s golf team teed up in the first round of their home tournament, the Hank Stewart Collegiate Monday.

Rev Alcantra leads the Lady Tigers and is currently the individual tournament leader while teammates, A’Marie Smith and Lyla Vaughn are in second and third place, while Destani Burbank is tied in fourth.

“We started strong,” Texas Southern head golf coach, Dr. Gary Grandison said. “The ladies had a decent front nine but thew away too many shots on the back. We need to come back strong in the final round,” Grandison concluded.

Alcantra and Smith also lead the Lady Tigers statistically as they were 1-under on the par 5 scoring.

TSU concludes play at the Hank Stewart Collegiate Tuesday at Pearland Golf Club with an 8:30 a.m. tee time.
