Alcantra Claims Individual Win In Final Round Of Hank Stewart Collegiate

PEARLAND, Texas – The Texas Southern University women’s golf team concluded the final round of their home tournament, the Hank Stewart Collegiate.

As the Lady Tigers competed as individuals, Rev Alcantra maintained her lead from the first round to close out the tournament as the individual winner. A’Marie Smith shaved off two strokes from her first round to finish in second place, and Lyla Vaughn finished tied in third place.

“The ladies had spurts of solid play,” head coach Dr. Gary Grandison said.  “There have been significant improvements in our team, so I am looking forward to our continued growth.”

Both Texas Southern golf teams return to action this weekend. The women’s team will compete in the UTRGV Invitational in McAllen, Texas while the men’s team will participate in the Colin Montgomerie Collegiate Invite in Spring, Texas.
