A month of awards for TSU’s Jeremy Combs

HOUSTON – Four weeks, five awards for Texas Southern University men’s basketball player Jeremy Combs.
 
For the fourth consecutive week, Texas Southern University forward Jeremy Combs has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after posting consecutive double-doubles versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State.
 
Combs also garnered national attention this week when he was the recipient of Lou Henson Award National Player of the Week award by CollegeInsider.com.
 
The streak of SWAC awards coincides with Texas Southern’s eight-game winning streak. During the streak, Combs has averaged 23.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game; he has recorded a double-double in six of those eight games.
 
Combs received the Henson weekly honor for his performances during the week of Feb. 17 through 23, in which he averaged 30.0 points and 14.0 rebounds per game in wins at Jackson State and at home over Arkansas–Pine Bluff.
 
The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the top Mid-Major player in Division I college basketball.
