8 Men’s Track & Field Student-Athletes Set Season-Low Marks At Baylor Invitational This Past Weekend

WACO, Texas – A total of eight Texas Southern men’s track & field athletes set seasonal marks at the Baylor Invitational this past weekend.

With a little more than a month left until the SWAC Outdoor Championships, the men’s team continued to move in the right direction as they ran against a loaded field which featured two teams ranked amongst the top 25 nationally and five teams ranked regionally by the USTFCCA.

One week after setting a season-low time in the 100, Javan Martin tied his mark of 10.7 in the 100 while Kenneth White set a season-low in the 400 (48.32). Eric Prier ran a personal best outdoor time in the 400 while Tyrell Simms set a season-low in the same event as both moved up to charts amongst top times in the SWAC.

Brandon Washington came within seven-tenths of running a personal best as he finished seventh overall in a very competitive 800 race. Karon Bain clocked a personal best time in the 110-meter hurdles while Christian Sanchez posted a personal-best time in the 3,000-meter hurdles to round out the performances on the track.

In the field events, Kellen Garion set a personal-best in the discus with a throw of 131-2.

The men’s team is back in action this Friday and Saturday at the UIW Invitational in San Antonio.
